It's been a while since my last update, but I've had a lot going on so it's been hard to try to hunker down and write some stuff for the site.
One of the most fun things I did this week was to visit the Ueno zoo, which was surprisingly close to my house. Above I have some video that I took of
a red panda bending over a branch to eat from it. I also have some videos of otters being fed, but I figured that it would be best to limit the amount of cuteness
allowed on one page. Overall the zoo was a lot of fun and I got to see some weird and amazing creatures upclose (like the aye-aye and this weird Egyptian hopping
rat) and some not so weird animals - i.e. a turkey is not an animal I would normally expect to see in a zoo.
This video was taken of a religious festival that was taking place on the streets of Asakusa. I accidently stumbled upon it when I was wandering around trying to find Akihabara. There were lots of shrines and giant
drums around, and there were lots of little tents set up with food and games. I had grilled octopus on a stick for lunch, but I am kinda sad that I didn't try the whole fish on a stick.
I've got a lot more to say, but I think I'll keep some stories (such as seaweed pizza and pachinko parlors) for when I get home - or maybe for another update if I get the time.
The next trip I'm planning is a day at Tokyo Disney - Which I was told to go very adamantly by a couple of American tourists I met at the Yomiuri Giants game.
